Remote Sensing and Modeling (RSM) Lab

I’m Smritee Nepal, originally from Nepal, the land of mountains, diverse landscapes, and a deep connection with nature. I completed my BSc in Geology from Tribhuvan University, where I gained hands-on experience through geological fieldwork in Central and Western Nepal, working with geological mapping, hydrology, geomorphology, and geotechnical analysis. I also worked on climate-change research focused on agriculture and became involved in disaster-risk reduction and community-based programs.

I’m now a graduate student in Geosciences at Midwestern State University, working under the guidance of Dr. Kashif Mahmud in the Remote Sensing and Modeling Lab. My interests are growing toward GIS, remote sensing, and LiDAR, and I plan to work on a project exploring tree structure and urban forest carbon storage. I also serve as a teaching assistant for Environmental Science.

Outside academics, I enjoy exploring new places, trying new food, meeting people from different backgrounds, and finding little adventures wherever I am. I’m always up for a good conversation, especially when there’s something new to learn.
