Elizabeth Elkins

I am Elizabeth Elkins, a Geosciences undergraduate at Midwestern State University. I was born in Tucson, AZ. I have lived in a couple of different places including Tokyo, Japan, for four years. My research interests include environmental sciences, geochemistry, and planetary geology.

I worked on the Connecting Flood Project “Outsiders” to state aid for flood mitigation which sought to gather data about areas prone to flooding directly from the area’s locals. The work I did was in the northeastern region of Texas. I am currently working with Professor Kashif Mahmud to estimate forest biomass from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) measurements taken at the Eucalyptus Free Air CO2 Enrichment (EucFACE) experimental site. By using TLS data, this project aims to explore the potential of TLS for the accurate measurement of forest biomass.

My hobbies include hiking, playing video games, and reading. I also like to play volleyball with friends. Feel free to contact me via my Email.
