Krishna Winston

I am Krishna Winston, a Geoscience graduate student at Midwestern State University. I hail from the nature isle of the Caribbean, Dominica, and it was my enthusiasm for environmental preservation that initiated my academic and career goals in the field of geosciences. I completed my BS in Geoscience at Midwestern State University in 2019. My research interest includes climate change, remote sensing, and forest management.

I worked as a high school science teacher for five years and served as an Environmental Specialist II at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for two years and three months. Currently, I am a graduate assistant at Midwestern State University where I instruct multiple geology lab sections. Additionally, I serve as senator of the Midwestern State University Rotary Club and an active member of the Caribbean Student Organization. I am currently working with Professor Kashif Mahmud using remote sensing satellite data and GIS tools to analyze the impacts of deforestation on carbon footprint and climate change by extension.

My hobbies include hiking, meditation, going to the beach and listening to scientific podcasts and audiobooks. I also enjoy playing basketball and soccer in my free time. For any questions, I can be contacted via email.
