Md. Shahparan

I am Md Shahparan, a Geoscience major graduate student at Midwestern State University. I was born and raised in Bangladesh, the land of mighty rivers, which propelled my academic and professional journey to natural science. I graduated with my BSc and MS in Geography and Environment at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in 2019. Following my Masters, I started my career as an Environmental Consultant at a Dhaka-based consultancy firm. Most of my previous works are focused on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), environmental monitoring, pollution analysis, and risk modeling. I collaborated with the World Bank, JICA, ADB, Government Agencies, and Private Sector for different development projects in Bangladesh.

I am currently working with Professor Kashif Mahmud as a Graduate Assistant. My research interest is motivated by the need to improve urban air quality and minimize population exposure to air pollution. I look forward to utilizing geospatial data and physical models to analyze changes in air quality over time, understand the influence of natural and anthropogenic activities on air quality, and evaluate the impact of air pollution on public health.

In my free time, I love to travel mostly. I also enjoy reading books, playing cricket, listening songs, watching documentaries and movies. When I am not doing any of these, you’ll find me either cooking or sleeping! You are welcome to email me if you have any queries.
