Anna Kough

I am Anna Kough, a Geosciences undergraduate student at Midwestern State University. I was born and raised in Texas and discovered my passion for physical sciences through my love for traveling and exploring. I am currently working with Dr. Kashif Mahmud in using geospatial and statistical technology utilizing remote sensing data to measure particulate matter concentrations from wildfires and the associated health hazards.

My areas of interest include plate tectonics, geothermal mapping/convection, seismology, and other large-scale geologic phenomena paired with an interest in Paleontology. I love seeing and understanding Earth's history through rocks, minerals, and geologic formations. I also enjoy seeing the trends in these topics using geospatial software.

I would love to travel for my work and see all kinds of sights and wonders. I desire to have a good balance of fieldwork and lab work. I'm always up for a new adventure! I love hiking and any type of physical activity, especially surrounded by nature. If you can't find me outside or building my mineral collection, I'll most likely be reading, drawing, or spending my time with the people I love and cherish. Feel free to contact me via email.
